AGUIBA is a prime location in the prime area of Marsa Matrouh
- MARSA MATROUH is one of the most important areas that exhibits the beauty of the place, the charming beaches and history. It provides various types of tourism, entertaining, beaches, curing, historical, religious, safari and environmental tourism. Matrouh is a place that works as an integral harmonious part of the surrounding area that comprises Alexandria, Cairo and Fayom.
- MARSA MATROUH is located 313 km of western Alexandria and it is famous for the beaches that extend for about 7 km, of soft white sands and quiet magnificent blue and clear water which is protected by a range of natural rocks that extend along the beach. It was agreed unanimously on the fact that it is one of the world’s most charming beaches.
- AGUIBA is one of the most fascinating beaches in Marsa Matrouh that lies 25 km of the west of the city. It is well known of its natural caves and charming scenery as this is where the name Aguiba “wonder” comes from.
- The beach is marked with the soft white sands and the blue clear water that is surrounded by a range of rocks that have an opening for light ships.
- The history of such a beach goes back to the time of Alexander the Macedonian as it was called “Pratium” or “Amonia”. It is noteworthy that Alexander the great stopped in that very place on his historic journey to Siwa in order to perform the religious duties of loyalty to the god Amon as to become his son and that his regime becomes a historical extension to the regime of pharaohs.
- Also, remains of a temple that was built 1200 B.C., that is to say at the time of Ramses the second, is still there in Aguiba.
